Advent in Zadar — Christmas magic in the heart of Dalmatia

For years in a row, Advent in Zadar has been transforming the city into a true winter fairy tale. Festive stalls, the scents of fritters, sausages, mulled wine, the sounds of live music, socializing and a warm atmosphere create that recognizable Zadar Advent buzz. This year, the event runs from November 24, 2025 to January 2, 2026. Once again bringing a rich program for all generations.

The Advent stage will once again be filled with numerous well-known performers this year. Among the most prominent names are Ivica Sikirić Ićo, Buđenje, Marko Škugor, Kuzma & Shaka Zulu, Tajči, Četiri tenora, Klapa Rišpet, Silente, Jole, Maja Šuput, and Elemental. Each of their performances brings a special touch to the Advent atmosphere. From gentle Dalmatian ballads to lively evening concerts under the open sky. The children’s program is also the most joyful part of Advent! Most of the activities for the youngest take place at Zadar Market, in the morning and early afternoon hours. Here you can find creative workshops (usually from 10:00 to 12:00), children’s plays, animations, and entertaining Advent programs designed exclusively for kids.

A special delight comes on December 6 — the feast of St. Nicholas, the favorite day of all little ones.

The program for St. Nicholas includes:

• St. Nicholas Promenade (10:30–12:30) — a cheerful walk and gathering through the city streets
• Children’s play about St. Nicholas (18:00, Zadar Market)
• Workshops and creative activities during the morning.

Who is St. Nicholas?

St. Nicholas was a 4th-century bishop known for his kindness and for giving to children and the poor. His generosity and devotion to sailors made him the protector of children, travelers, and people living by the sea. The tradition of gift-giving on December 6 remains his most beautiful legacy. A day when children around the world, including in Zadar, eagerly await small presents, smiles, and the magic of the holiday season.

Advent at two key locations — Five Wells Square and Zadar Market

This year’s Advent takes place at two important, yet completely different locations:

• Five Wells Square — the venue for major evening concerts and the most famous performers; the center of entertainment, music, and the nighttime part of the Advent program
• Zadar Market — a place for morning and daytime activities, children’s workshops, performances, and creative programs, as well as evening DJ sets and parties, making it a dynamic spot for all generations and tastes.

The most important difference lies in the experience: Five Wells Square offers grand musical spectacles, while the Market provides warmth, gastronomy, and family-oriented content. It is here that every Saturday the traditional Pjat na pjaci takes place. A beloved gastronomic event where local chefs prepare homemade dishes, creating an authentic Zadar atmosphere.
