Arrival in Zadar informations

Information for guests who prefer to arrival by car or bus! Land arrival in Zadar is exceptionally easy thanks to a modern highway network. The A1 (Dalmatina) highway connects Zadar with the capital city, Zagreb, which is approximately 2.5 hours away by car. Additionally, the A1 highway links Zadar with southern cities such as Split, Šibenik, and Dubrovnik. Regular bus lines operate from all parts of Croatia, including Zagreb, Split, Rijeka, and Dubrovnik, as well as from numerous European cities. Be sure to check websites Hrvatske autoceste before travelling. On this page, you will find information about road conditions, as travel times may extend during the peak season.

Also, if you are traveling from Zagreb, I recommend taking the opportunity to rest and visit National park Plitvice lakes. Plitvice Lakes is one of the most beautiful natural attractions in Croatia!

Airport options

Zadar airport (ZAD) is located just 12 kilometers from the city center, making it highly accessible for all visitors. Throughout the year, the airport offers direct flights to major European cities such as London, Berlin, Paris, and Brussels. During the summer season, connectivity expands further to numerous other destinations across Europe. In addition to Zadar, Split Airport (SPU), situated 120 kilometers away, provides even more flight options. If you choose public transportation, getting to the city center is easy and affordable. The ride takes about 20 minutes and costs 5 euros per person. Luggage is included in the price, with no extra charges. The bus departs from the airport and stops at key locations in the city.

You can get off at Gaženica Port if you’re continuing your journey by ferry to the islands. The stop at the main bus station is ideal if your accommodation is nearby. The final stop is the Old Town Peninsula – the heart of Zadar and a favorite among visitors. Your ticket is valid for 90 minutes, so you can often use it to continue your ride. For example, if you’re heading to Borik, your ticket will most likely still be valid. For more information, visit the Zadar Airport website.
